HISTORY IN THE MAKING...

1960 Mt. Vernon Lodge
Circa February 1960 this building was built with the intention of being a clubhouse for a golf course. The developer then discovered that the State had plans to develop their own golf course at Stony Creek Metro Park. To the dismay of the developer was birth of the Mt. Vernon Lodge; a hideaway well off the beaten path on a dirt road where the locals would even ride thir horses and tie them up on the side of the building. This was the humble beginning of a tradition of good times and great food in a comfortable setting.
1983 Lion’s Den Pub
Years later, Mr. and Mrs. Niemen bought the business and changed the name to Lion’s Den Pub. The sports-themed décor was filled with classic football memorabilia. Mr. and Mrs. Niemen also owned and operated the extremely successful Lion’s Den Pub in Waterford, Michigan. They later sold the Shelby Township location to Bob and Anita McRae.
1993 Stony Creek Roadhouse
Mr. and Mrs. McRae transformed the pub into the Stony Creek Roadhouse. The up-north lodge environment continues to bring a unique dining experience to Shelby Township.
